Manchester Airport Taxi Prices & Fare Guide
If you live in Tameside or East Manchester and you are flying out of Manchester Airport, the first question is nearly always the same one: what is this going to cost me?
It is a fair question, and it is one that a surprising number of taxi websites avoid answering. You get a form to fill in, a phone number to ring, or a vague promise of “competitive rates” with no actual number attached. So this guide does the opposite. Below you will find our full Manchester Airport taxi prices from every area we cover, published in plain sight, along with an explanation of what is included, what is not, and how airport pricing actually works so you can compare us fairly against anyone else.
Call A Car has been running airport transfers in Denton since 1970. Manchester Airport is our busiest route by a long way, and after five decades of doing it we have a good idea of what these journeys should cost.

What “Fixed Fare” Actually Means
The phrase gets used loosely in this industry, so here is exactly what we mean by it.
A Manchester Airport taxi set fare is agreed before your journey starts and does not change afterwards. There is no meter running in the car. If the M60 is crawling, if roadworks send your driver the long way round, if you sit in a queue at the terminal approach, the number stays the same. You are not paying for time, you are paying for the journey.
That matters more than people realise on airport runs, because airport traffic is the least predictable traffic there is. A metered fare from Denton on a clear Tuesday at 2pm and a metered fare from Denton at 7am on a Friday in August are two very different numbers. Our fare is the same both times.
Fixed set fares apply to card payments. You can add your card in your profile on the app or pay online when you book. Cash payment is still welcome, and your driver will always tell you the price before you set off.
What Is Included in Your Manchester Airport Taxi Fare
Your quoted Manchester Airport taxi fare covers:
- Door to door travel. Collection from your home address, delivery to your terminal. Not the end of your road, not a nearby pickup point.
- All three terminals. T1, T2 and T3, at no difference in price.
- Luggage. Cases go in the boot and the driver helps you load them. There is no per-bag charge.
- Any time of day. We do not run night surcharges. A 3am pickup costs the same as a 3pm one.
- Flight monitoring on return journeys. We track your inbound flight and move your pickup automatically if you are early or late, at no extra cost.
What Is Not Included
Two things, and we would rather tell you now than at the terminal.
The airport drop-off fee. Manchester Airport charges vehicles to enter the terminal forecourt to drop passengers off. This is a charge set by the airport, collected by the airport, and every operator has to pay it. It is not part of our fare and is not something we profit from. You can check the current rate on Manchester Airport’s own website before you travel. Any local firm quoting you an all-in figure that seems to ignore this is either absorbing it into a higher headline price or is going to mention it later.
Why Manchester Airport Taxi Prices Vary Between Areas
Look at the table again and you will see fares ranging from £26 to £32. The differences are not arbitrary. Three things drive them:
Distance. The obvious one. Denton, Gorton, Audenshaw and Reddish sit closest to the M60 junctions that feed the airport, so they price at the lower end. Droylsden, Ashton-under-Lyne and Hattersley are further out and price accordingly.
Route quality, not just mileage. This is the part people miss. A journey with a clean motorway run can be cheaper than a shorter one that involves several miles of town driving and traffic lights. That is why Droylsden, which is not the furthest place on the list as the crow flies, sits at the top of it.
Vehicle type. Every fare above is for a Saloon or Estate. Executive vehicles and minibuses are priced separately, and 8-seaters need to be booked by phone on 0161 320 7117 so we can confirm the right vehicle and price for your group.
How Our Prices Compare to the Alternatives
It is worth knowing what you are comparing against.
Airport parking. A week in a Manchester Airport car park will usually cost you significantly more than a return taxi from Tameside, and that is before you factor in the shuttle bus, the walk with your cases, and the fact that your car is sitting in a car park rather than on your drive. For most of our customers, two taxi fares beat one parking bill.
Ride-hailing apps. The headline price often looks tempting until you check the time you are travelling. Surge pricing at 5am during the summer holidays, or at closing time, or when it is raining, is exactly when you need an airport taxi. Our fixed fares do not move.
Public transport. The tram and train work well if your flight is at a civilised hour and you are travelling light. For a 6am departure with a family and four suitcases, the maths and the misery both point the other way.
National booking sites. These take your money and pass the job to whichever local operator accepts it. You do not know who is turning up until they turn up. When you book with us, a Call A Car driver in a Call A Car vehicle arrives.
Ways to Pay Less
A few genuinely useful ones, not filler.
Use code WEB10. We currently offer 10% off airport transfers on card payments with code WEB10. On a £26 fare from Denton that is a meaningful saving for thirty seconds of typing.
Book the return at the same time. Sorting your homeward journey before you fly means you are not scrambling for a cab in the arrivals hall at 11pm.
Book through the app. App users collect reward points on every journey which convert into discounts on future trips. Airport runs are the perfect thing to earn on.
Share the vehicle. Travelling with friends or family on the same flight? One estate or one minibus is far cheaper than everybody ordering their own car.
Book ahead. Give us at least 24 hours’ notice where you can, particularly for early morning departures in school holidays. It guarantees you the vehicle you want.
How to Book
- Ring 0161 320 7117. A real person answers, day or night. Tell them where you are, when your flight is, and what you are bringing.
- Use the Call A Car app. Instant price, live driver tracking, in-app payment and reward points.
- Book online. Enter your details and get your fixed price confirmed in writing.
Whichever way you book, give us your flight number and terminal. The flight number is what lets us track your inbound flight on the return leg.
